A little bit about us

Alan, Lesley and Meg, outside their bed and breakfast farmhouse holiday accommodation on Faial, the Azores

Alan, 60, is from Birmingham and Lesley, 50, is from Dorset. We met in Tenerife in 1993 and then lived together on our 33' sailing yacht, Quartet, for the next 8 years. During that time we ran a very successful bar/restaurant in Gran Canaria for two years, then sailed across to the Caribbean where we worked in the charter yacht industry based in Antigua, in the West Indies. We have been married since our lovely open-air wedding in Trinidad in 1998.

Our relationship with the Azores began in 1996, when we sailed Quartet there from the Canaries for a summer holiday cruise. After passing through the Azores two years running, in 1999 and 2000, whilst delivering yachts across the Atlantic, we renewed our love affair with these unspoilt islands.

Both of us previously had motorbikes, so that interest has been resurrected. Alan has rebuilt an old BSA 500 twin, found in a barn on the island, which he enjoys taking out for a spin on fine days. He also has a Kawasaki 300R for playing off-road. . Lesley has a quad-bike which is also great off-road and for visiting my horse in her field.
